Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor has just announced that she’ll be releasing Melodrama the follow up album to her debut album Pure Heroine. Born 1996 in Takapuna, Ella launched into stardom at the tender age of 17 and has been one New Zealand’s most successful musicians in recent times.
As sudden as the rise of Lorde felt, her music career was years in the making. Lorde was discovered after winning a talent show at her intermediate school back in 2009. Shortly after Universal Music signed Lorde for development, over the next four years Lorde crafted her writing and husky voice before releasing the Love Club EP in March of 2013. Later that year she released her debut album Pure Heroine which went double platinum and received critical acclaim for thought provoking lyrics and minimalistic production.
Anticipation is high for Lorde’s sophomore release, thankfully the wait isn’t long with Melodrama set to drop this summer (winter for you southern hemisphere folk).Check out the first single “Green Light”, it will get the feet tapping.
