Jamiroquai are back with a new album Automaton, listen to the title track

Jamiroquai has just announced a world tour and released a new single from their new album Automaton, they last released an album back in 2010, Rock Dust Light Star.

The London group became massively popular in the early 90’s with their first three albums;  Emergency on Planet Earth (1992),  The Return of the Space Cowboy (1994)  and Traveling Without Moving (1996). These albums ushered in a new genre; Acid Jazz, with great commercial success and critical acclaim.

Since then Jamiroquai has released four other albums with mixed reception, with Synkronized (1999) and 2001’s A Funk Odyssey as the two stand out records.

This year Jamiroquai are set to take us in a bold new direction with the release of the title track from the Automaton. The robot infused single has us excited for what’s in store for the rest of the album which is out on March 31.

Front man Jay Kay has said “The inspiration for ‘Automaton’ is in recognition of the rise of artificial intelligence and technology in our world today and how we as humans are beginning to forget the more pleasant, simple and eloquent things in life and in our environment including our relationship with one another as human beings”.
